Rice Krispie Granola Bars

With so many types of granola bars on the market, there’s a granola bar for everyone.   From soft and chewy, crispy and crunchy, dipped in chocolate, full of nuts, nut-free, high protein, no salt, the list is endless.  

The granola bars in this recipe remind me of Nature Valley’s Oats ‘n’ Honey granola bars but slightly less dense.  They are light and crispy with a sweet honey flavour and for those chocolate-lovers, spotted with chocolate chips.  

Feel free to add your own spin on these and add your favourite ingredients.  But remember to put some aside for you because they’ll be gone before you know it. 

 

For the granola bars

3 cups Rice Krispies

2 1/2 cups oats

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup honey

1/2 cup oil

1/2 cup chocolate chips  

Preheat oven to 350F.

Combine all ingredients in a large Ziplock bag and mix well.  Press mixture into a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 13 minutes.  Let cool slightly, and slice while still warm.
